It has never been more important for us to stick together.

We need to stand together, even when we can't be together.

If recent months have shown us anything it’s that it’s difficult to stick together when we are being asked to stay apart.

And now, once again, as we are being told we must stay at home, it is challenging to shake off that alarmingly familiar feeling of social exile.

Isolation isn’t just a physical thing though, it’s mental and emotional too. We have come to learn this for ourselves in ways we could never have imagined when we innocently ushered in 2020, not even a year ago.

We are social creatures and so it’s totally unnatural for us to not be able to be together in the ways we had become so used to, and, dare I say it, maybe even taken for granted.

But, even then, when we had what we thought was our 'freedom, we were always being encouraged to divide.

Left versus Right.

Red versus Blue.

North against South.

East and West.

2020 has brought further divisions.

Us against Them.

Rich versus Poor.

You’ve got those pro-lockdown, others anti-lockdown.

There are the mask wearers and the adamant non-mask wearers.

Pro-vax and No-vax.

And while we are so focussed on being right and making others wrong, we lose sight of the fact that we are just becoming more and more polarised, distant, segregated, isolated.

We need something that can bring us back together.

We need to focus on the things that can unite us and make us feel good; the things that help us to focus on what we have in common and not how different we are.

There’s only one thing I know that can do that.

Music.

Music is the only thing that we come together for where our sole "soul" focus is on enjoying ourselves, together, united.

And music is a total mind, body and spirit experience; where perhaps the sports and entertainment world aren’t quite so immersive and unifying.

And yet with live music, concerts, festivals and nightclubs still out of reach, it seems that Radio might just be the only place left for us all to come together and enjoy music together, live.

That’s why we created The Buzz Mcr; to bring people together around music.

More than ever, we need to find those things that bring us some joy, and that unite us.

It’s never been more important.
